World Development, 26(1998)6; pp. 1113-1126. (June 1998)
Summary
The Dutch agricultural research system has been transformed profoundly during the past 25 years. Changes in the structure of the agricultural sector, advancements in science, and more general political and ideological changes are the main forces driving this transformation. In this paper, special attention is paid to the effects of these changes on the institutional context within which the system operates, and on how the experiences in the Netherlands comparewitho those in other developed countries. The paper concludes with an exploration of possible future developments in the Dutch agricultural research system.
